serial #23958, 30-06, 23 1/2? Boehler Spezial Stahl barrel with a bright excellent bore. The metal surfaces on this well-made Austrian sporting rifle retain about 98% plus maker blue. Constructed on an unmarked large ring Mauser action, the rifle is stocked in a generous Monte Carlo style with a flared left side cheekpiece and nicely executed skip-line checkering patterns with mullered borders. The stock itself rates excellent and shows few handling marks and features a capped pistolgrip and grooved buttplate with European-style swivels. The arm was constructed with a nice butterknife-style bolt handle, low scope safety, double set triggers and a nice long tang triggerguard. Sighted with a bead atop a sporting ramp and single standing leaf rear sight, there are dual claw bases fitted at the breech of barrel and rear receiver ring. Mounted is a Swarovski Habicht 4X telescopic sight with heavy European duplex reticle with otherwise bright excellent optics but which shows an old occlusion or drop of something within the ocular lens (it appears to be a drop of moisture but maybe glue or some other contaminant). A quality-made rifle proofed in 1967, a 3/4? rifle sling is included. (38850-12) {C&R} (800/1200) SOLD FOR $747.50
