serial #FW95275, .410 bore, 26? barrels both choked full with bright excellent bores. The barrels retain about 99% excellent quality restored blue finish with inlaid gold band atop rib and light engraving at the breeches. The frame and lockplates retain a similar amount of vivid restored color case-hardening, the engraving remaining crisp overall. The long tang triggerguard with rolled edge shows light engraving as well and retains all of its restored blue. The straight grip American walnut buttstock and splinter style forend rate excellent to as-new, either as professionally refinished or as high-quality replacements, showing some lovely grain figure in the butt and flawlessly executed wraparound checkering patterns. The length of pull to the grooved hard rubber buttplate is 14 1/4? with drops of 1 1/2? and 2 1/4?. The arm locks up tightly with the top lever still right of center although the faintest ghost of light can be seen between the standing breech and the right barrel breech. The arm seems to function well mechanically with robust ejectors. The arm comes cased in a leather bound luggage case with brass plaque on lid engraved ?L.C. Smith?, the interior also with an L.C. Smith label, two ebony handled turns screws and an ebony rod handle, oil bottle, mahogany wiping rod and nickelled snap caps.
