serial #F859, 45-60, 28" octagon barrel with an excellent bore. This rifle features a special order longer than standard barrel and factory double set triggers. The triggers are positioned in a fashion where they fit comfortably within the standard "S" lever. The barrel shows the italicized "WHITNEYVILLE ARMORY" address without the word "KENNEDY". The barrel and magazine retain about 30 - 40% original blue finish which is blending evenly with a gray brown patina. Markings remain crisp with a little scattered light surface oxidation along with some light oxidation staining. The action shows about 20% original blue finish with the balance showing a pleasing smooth gray brown patina with a little scattered light oxidation staining. There are some light scratches on the action and most screws show at least slight slot wear. The hammer and lever show some faded original color case-hardened finish with the lever being mostly brown. The plain walnut buttstock and forend rate very good with little finish remaining but having a very nice surface with raised grain coming through and with excellent fit. The rifle is sighted with German silver blade Rocky Mountain front and standard open sporting rear sights. A nice solid example of a Whitney Kennedy rifle with scarce special order features.
