serial #179151, 22 Hornet, 24'' barrel with a bright excellent bore. The metal surfaces on this 1951-vintage sporting rifle retain about 99% original blue that has some light wear, handling marks and some light specks of oxidation scattered about. The bolt body has been machine-polished, the serial number is still faintly visible on the underside. The original checkered walnut stock has been modified with an ebony forend tip added and the wrist has been narrowed leaving the sides flared below the receiver. The checkering has been expertly re-cut in the factory pattern and the finish reapplied which closely matches the original as well. A scroll-engraved steel gripcap has also been added, the original checkered steel buttplate remains. The wood rates very good and has some light handling marks and a few small chips at the toe. The original sights, including the front sight hood, remain intact. Overall this is a very nice vintage Model 70 in a very desirable caliber which has been modified to fit a previous owners desires and would make a lovely sporting rifle as-is. It could also easily be turned back into the original configuration and be a more collectible rifle once again. (48865-66) {MODERN} (1800/2200) Sold For 2127.50
