serial #1970403, 45 ACP, 5'' High Standard barrel with a very good bore showing some scattered light pinprick pitting and oxidation stains. The metal surfaces of this 1944-made pistol retain about 95% arsenal reapplied Parkerized finish with some thinning on the grip frame and muzzle area in addition to high edge wear and scratches. The checkered synthetic Keyes Fibre grips with large reinforcing ring rate about very good with scattered light dents and dings. All parts on the pistol appear period correct, Colonel Frank J. Atwood's inspection mark remains very strong as do the ordnance wheel and proof marks. The proof mark on the slide is struck off-center with just a portion of the ''P's'' loop showing and only a fragment of the ordnance wheel remains visible, also from an off-center strike. It includes a single General Shaver magazine with welded base and center rear seam but it has been re-blued. A nice example of an arsenal refurbished 1911A1.
