serial #455621, 45 ACP, 5'' Colt barrel with a very good bore that shows some light oxidation and pitting but strong rifling. The metal surfaces retain perhaps 20% original blue with the balance being a dull gray patina with a couple pinprick pits on frontstrap and some scattered oxidation stain spots. The checkered walnut grips rate about very good showing a few flattened points, some dings and handling marks. The hammer, slide stop and safety may be replacements but the other parts appear to be correct for the time of manufacture. Interestingly the Springfield Research Service lists this gun as having gone through the New York Point of Embarkation to Springfield Armory on March 31, 1939. A single unmarked magazine is included that is an overall dull gray patina. An honest Great War 1911 that clearly was called up again for use in the Second war.
