1189. Unmarked German Scalloped Boxlock Double Shotgun

serial #3364, 12 ga., 30'' barrels choked full in both with bright excellent bores showing some very sparse remnants of some tiny pinprick pits near the muzzles. The barrels retain about 98-99% excellent quality restored blue showing only a few very minor handling marks here or there but no real wear, they were proved in 1947. The frame is a very pleasing smooth pewter patina and is engraved with loose open foliate German scroll and game scenes left and right of woodcock, gunning dog with waterfowl and hares on the belly of the frame, two smaller gamebirds on the bow of the guard. The checkered capped pistolgrip Circassian walnut buttstock rates excellent as professionally refinished showing some absolutely stunning grain figure and with a rounded left side shadowline cheekpiece. The forend is similar with lovely checkering and a horn forend tip insert. The length of pull to the 3/4'' Pachmayr recoil pad is 14 3/8'' with drops of 1 3/8'' and 2 7/8''. The arm features cocking indicators, automatic safety and double triggers; it is on face and tight. A very handsome German boxlock double for fall birding.
