119. Early Remington Rolling Block 1897 Carbine

Click on images for enlarged versions.

7mm Mauser, 20 1/2'' barrel with a good plus bore that shows scattered pitting but strong rifling. The metal surfaces are a pleasing brown patina with a couple patches of light pitting and some scattered light oxidation. The walnut stock rates very good with a crack running from the rear sight to frame on handguard, a small crack behind upper tang and scattered handling marks from the years. The consignor states that this is an early variation of the 1897 carbine and these were used in large numbers by Mexico but this one lacks any discernable Mexican markings. A solid example of these interesting late model Rolling Block carbines for the military collector. (209009-24) {C&R} (2000/3000) Sold For 0.00
