serial #188458, 45 ACP, 5'' correctly-marked Colt barrel with a lightly frosted bore. This 1917-made pistol retains about 40 to perhaps 50% original brushed blue finish with the slide mostly brown under strong light showing streaks of blue, grip frame toning to pewter-brown, a few light dings, scattered scratches and assembly marks. The double diamond checkered walnut factory grips rate nearly excellent showing light handling wear. Major Gilbert H. Stewart's inspection stamp remains strong as do the other markings. The pistol includes an unmarked two-tone magazine, believed to be a Colt, with pinned base that shows heavy wear to the bluing. A nice old war horse that has seen some use over the years but remains a solid example of an early war gun. (89010-130) {C&R} [Dr. Jess P. Lewis Collection] (1000/1500) Sold For 2185.00
