1234. Colt Officers Model Target Revolver

serial #56942, 22 LR, 6'' barrel with an excellent bore. This nice 1949-made revolver was built when the factory was transitioning to the officers Model Special and carries a few of its features. The metal surfaces retain about 98% original blue with light high edge wear, turn ring on the cylinder, scattered light scratches, a few minor oxidation stains and moderately heavy scratches on the cylinder latch. The checkered walnut factory grips with silver Rampant Colt medallions are not numbered to this gun but rate excellent overall. This transitional revolver features the earlier elevation adjustable Patridge front sight and windage adjustable rear sight but the grooved trigger and backstrap of the officers Model Special plus timing and lock up are good. This is not surprising as Colt wasted little and would have used up old frames and parts. The gun includes a lovely brown hinged factory box that is correctly end-labeled to the gun but un-numbered, ''Shooting Suggestions'' pamphlet and paperwork. The box rates excellent with light scuffing on the corners and the pamphlet rates about very good with soiling. An unusual transitional piece for your collection.
