serial #060261S, 22 LR, 6'' heavy barrel with an excellent bore. This beautiful third model Match Target remains in excellent condition and includes a factory 6'' Match Target experimental barrel. The metal surfaces of this fine pistol retain about 99% original blue finish. The checkered walnut factory thumb rest grips appear as new. The pistol features a Patridge front sight and Elliason adjustable rear sight. The experimental barrel is a 6'' Match Target with several unique features, standard markings and a Patridge front sight. The metal surfaces retain about 95% original blue with lightly cleaned oxidized pitting and scratches. The special features include flutes on the barrel that are cut to extend to the frame and the lug has been hollowed, a key way cut and threaded movable keyed weight installed. The threaded rod is designed to bear against the frame and the small adjustment screw moves the weight in (counter-clockwise) and out to change the balance. In addition to the extra barrel with weight there is a factory marked magazine provided. Also included is a factory letter indicating this gun was shipped to Mr. John Williams of Colts Industries, Hartford, Connecticut on November 7, 1974. Mr. Williams was a long-time employee that supervised the Tool Room, Research & Development at Colt Firearms. It is not known how heavily he was involved with this barrel prototype but he surely handled and saw many unusual models. A fine pistol with a one-of-a-kind barrel.
