1270. Scarce Remington Model 1896 Rolling Block Rifle

Click on images for enlarged versions.

30-40 Krag, 30'' barrel with an excellent bore. The metal surfaces retain 90% original blue the loss mostly due to scattered light oxidation. The plain walnut stock rates very good plus with an older added varnish, some light flaking on the right side, the expected handling marks and dings from the years. This rifle appears to be the 1896 model, as it has the 1896 front sight and the breechblock has the narrow thumbpiece. The 1896 model was made for one year before being discontinued in favor of the 1897 model. A very fine example of a hard-to-find Rolling Block rifle.
