128. Beautiful John Adams Engraved Colt Single Action Army Revolver

serial #S10108A, 45 Colt, 4 3/4'' barrel with a bright excellent, unfired, bore. The metal surfaces on this stunning revolver retain 99% plus post-engraving bright nickel finish. Master engraver John Adams Sr. has embellished the gun in full coverage wonderful open flowing scroll with background punch-dot accenting. As-expected from Adams, the quality of the work is flawless and rivals any arm ever coming from the Colt factory. All of the screws show lovely vibrant fire temper blue, as does the head of the ejector rod, base pin and the trigger. The revolver wears a lovely smooth ivory one-piece grip, precisely fitted to the arm, showing the beginning of some very nice age crackling along the butt flats only. The arm comes in a blue Colt Custom Shop box with papers and no end label, additionally there is a glass topped sliding-drawer Colt finger jointed walnut display case which is green baize lined and includes the arm's original hard rubber eagle and Rampant Colt grips and two small plaques with Mr. Adams's name. The arm stands on a lovely zebra wood display with six nickel plated dummy 45 Colt cartridges. The very front of the frame below the base pin is signed. An absolutely superb example of John Adams Sr's work, Adams went to work for Colt in 1976 as a freelance engraver through RL Wilson's firm, he has engraved over 3000 firearms for Colt Manufacturing including 35 of the John Wayne commemoratives, he currently resides in Vermont with his son where he continues his magic on the steel canvas.
