1280. Whitney Kennedy Small Caliber Lever Action Rifle

Click on images for enlarged versions.

serial #A869, 44-40, 24'' round barrel with full magazine and a very good bore showing some light pitting and strong rifling throughout. The metal surfaces of this rifle are mostly toned to gray-brown patina with light pitting, oxidation staining and small dings scattered throughout. The screw heads show some moderate slot damage, the patent date markings on the upper tang are rather soft but the single line ''WHITNEYVILLE ARMorY CT, U.S.A. KENNEDY'' address on the barrel is clear. The plain walnut stocks remain in good condition showing some flaking and crazing varnish throughout, a few shallow chips and minor hairline cracks here and there, dings and a small added sling swivel hole on both the forend and toe line. The rifle is sighted with typical sporting rear and German silver blade front and the action is functional but the lever hangs a little loosely. A well-used but honest example overall.
