1294. U.S. Model 1896 Krag Bolt Action Carbine by Springfield Armory

serial #28093, 30-40 Krag, 22'' barrel with a poor bore that has worn rifling, a large patch of oxidation near muzzle and scattered pitting. The metal surfaces are mostly a dull brown patina with scattered oxidation staining, some light pitting on barrel, the extractor and barrel band retaining generous traces of fire blue. The walnut stock rates very good with an armory oil finish, a partially faded 1897 cartouche, a strong circled ''P'' firing proof, a small crack on front right, a couple light chips at toe, scattered dings and handling marks. The rifle is equipped with a correct 1896 carbine rear sight, 1896 carbine handguard, a saddle bar and saddle ring. A well-used Krag carbine that will make a good addition to the budding military collector's battery. (208737-297) {ANTIQUE} [Dr. Louis. C. March Jr. Collection] (800/1200) Sold For 805.00
