serial #127968, 45-70, 22'' barrel with a good plus bore that shows some scattered pitting and oxidation but strong rifling. The breechblock retains 93% of a later applied blue finish with some light oxidation and flaking to brown. The other parts retain 80% arsenal blue with scattered flaking to brown, a few spots of light oxidation on the buttplate, some minor freckling on the barreled action and a minor ding on front of the upper tang. The walnut stock rates very good with an older added oil finish, no visible cartouches, three small added holes on the left side of butt, the expected scattered dings and handling marks. The carbine has the correct ''C'' marked 1879 rear sight and a correct saddle bar but no saddle ring is present. The hammer appears to function well and this is a solid example of an 1879 Trapdoor carbine for the military collector. (208737-536) {ANTIQUE} [Dr. Louis C. March. Jr Collection] (800/1200) Sold For 1035.00
