serial #12566, 20 ga., 26'' ventilated rib barrels choked full and modified with excellent bores. The metal surfaces on this 1958 vintage double retain about 85% original blue with light edge wear throughout, the majority of the loss being around the belly and sides of the Grade I engraved frame, the forend iron and the tang of the triggerguard. Much of the original gold plating remains on the trigger and the initials ''D C B'' are engraved along the triggerguard bow. The checkered walnut stocks rate very good and have the usual assortment of dings and light handling marks. There is minor to moderate crazing and crackling to the lacquer on the forearm, the buttstock has been refinished and there is a 1/4'' ebony spacer about 2-1/2'' from the butt. A vented recoil pad was added and the length of pull is about 14-1/2''. The wood is matching before and after the spacer and the stock could have been modified for youth hunting with the original piece reattached and the stock refinished to its current state. The lock-up is tight and shotgun is equipped with dual bead sights and ejectors. A well-loved example that would make a terrific upland woods or sporting range shotgun.
