serial #204424, 25 ACP, 2'' barrel with a bright excellent bore. This is an astonishing and very rare model 1908 Vest Pocket Colt pistol. In addition to being full-coverage factory engraved, the arm is overall silver plated and has factory mother-of-pearl silver Rampant Colt medallion grips. The metal surfaces retain 99% plus original silver plate which is tarnishing slightly with a very nice purplish hue, the face of the slide a dark tarnished pewter-colored patina. The grips rate excellent and are unchipped and unmarred remaining very lustrous after all these years. The arm comes in its original purple-tone hinge-top box, pencil-numbered to the gun on its underside. The standard factory end label is intact on the lower portion of the box, the upper portion features two factory surcharge end labels, one which reads ''Engraved'' the other reads ''Pearl Silver''. The box itself rates very good, the lower portion completely intact, the corners of the lid have separated, with the purple paper covering missing from the front lid face and the ''E'' missing from ''Engraved''. The included factory letter shows shipment in May 1919 in a ''green'' state to ''Murta Appleton & Co'' for WH Gough, showing re-shipment from Colt in July of the same year for finish application, the finish being silver; additionally the grips are listed as ''pearl''. Included with the arm is a lovely two tone magazine with silver plated floorplate; only 51 of these Colt Vest Pockets were ever silver plated. This is an absolutely stunning factory engraved and silver plated 1908 Vest Pocket, investment grade for the discriminating advanced Colt collector.
