serial #5805, 44 RF, 4 1/2'' octagon barrel with a bright very good plus bore showing a few small patches of light oxidation. This example is a very fine specimen with the metal surfaces of the barrel retaining about 80% original bright blue with high edge wear, a few tiny pits, freckling and the remainder flaking to a nice brownish gray. The case-hardened frame and breechblock have mostly toned to a mottled gray patina with some minor oxidation staining and freckling scattered throughout. The hammer and trigger have toned to a similar dark gray patina with minor freckling and staining and a number of the screw heads show some minor slot damage. The checkered hard rubber grips are most likely period replacements, the right grip is un-numbered and the left grip is numbered ''6222'' and its fit to the frame is just a little bit off. The grips remain in near excellent condition with some discoloration to brown, a few small dings, handling marks and a small crack on the left grip. The barrel and breechblock markings are crisp and the action and breechblock mechanism function very well. A really nice example of these rather large and very sturdy deringers in near excellent condition. (138426-138) {ANTIQUE} (800/1200) Sold For 632.50
