serial #1057, 12 ga, 30'' laminated steel barrels choked modified and full with oxidized bores showing pitting throughout. The barrels of this English-made shotgun have mostly toned to a pleasant plum-brown patina showing some moderate freckling, scratches and light oxidation staining. The frame, locks and hammers are mostly toned to gunmetal-gray patina with remnants of silvery case-hardened patina and some faint colors present in the more protected areas. The gun is embellished with nice-quality tasteful foliate scrollwork befitting a Class B shotgun, both lockplates are crisply marked ''WINCHESTER / CLASS B'' and the barrel rib is marked with a soft but visible Winchester address. The checkered round knob pistolgrip English walnut buttstock and forend remain in very good condition with mostly worn finish and checkering, but good wood-to-metal fit at the locks and frame, and just a little shy at the widow's peak buttplate. There are some further small dings, a small hairline crack behind the left lockplate, handling marks and there is a small blank brass monogram plate along the toe line. The locks function crisply and the hammers are rebounding, the lever rests about center but there is moderate lateral play between the barrels and frame. The shotgun is sighted with a single brass bead and length of pull is 14''. An attractive example of these very desirable Winchester-branded shotguns.
