serial #273086, 32-40, 26'' octagon barrel with full magazine and a good bore showing light oxidation and strong rifling throughout. The special smokeless steel barrel and magazine tube retain about 85% original blue with most of the loss due to thinning and toning to gray-brown patina primarily along the magazine, scattered freckling and high edge wear. The action retains some strong remnants of case-hardened colors toning overall to a silvery patina with scattered brown freckling. The screw heads show some slot wear and all of the markings are quite crisp and clear. The walnut pistolgrip buttstock and forend are checkered in the simple factory A pattern and remain in very good condition showing a little added finish with the checkering worn overall, a small chip on the edge of the pistolgrip, small scattered dings and handling marks. The buttstock is stamp-numbered to the gun although the buttplate is mismatched. The rear sight dovetail is filled in with a blank and the rifle is sighted with a Lyman tang peep sight, Marble's No. 3 ivory bead front and the action seems to function well mechanically.
