serial #66048, 30 WCF, 26'' part round part octagon barrel with full magazine and a very good bore showing some scattered light pitting and strong rifling throughout. The special order feature of this rifle is the part round part octagon barrel and interestingly is still equipped with a full magazine. The barrel and magazine retain about 85% original blue with most of the loss due to the magazine tube mildly toning to gray-brown patina throughout, high edge wear, a few light scuffs and small spots of freckling. All of the barrel markings are clearly legible. The action retains about 80% original bright blue showing moderate high edge wear, areas toning to gray patina, moderate scratches along the sides and a couple pinprick pits. The hammer is checkered in the early style and retains some good case-hardened colors while the lever retains some areas of vibrant color, toning overall to silvery case-hardened patina. The loading gate and extractor both show some lovely fire blue. The plain walnut stocks remain in very good plus condition, the buttstock showing a healthy amount of original finish while the forend is more worn, along with scattered small dings, scratches and handling marks. The rifle is sighted with Winchester Express rear sight, Lyman large ivory bead front and the action seems to function well mechanically. This is a very attractive special order rifle in a somewhat unusual configuration. (138976-52) {C&R} (2000/3000) Sold For 1840.00
