serial #580437, 32-40, 26'' rapid taper octagon barrel with half magazine and a bright near excellent bore showing just some light frosting. This is a wonderfully configured rifle with its rapid taper octagon barrel, half magazine, takedown feature, semi-deluxe stocks with capped pistolgrip, shotgun butt and simple I-grade checkering. The barrel and magazine retain about 92% original blue showing some high edge wear, a few tiny pinprick pits here and there and some areas toning to gray patina under bright light. The action retains perhaps 80% original bright blue with most of the loss due to high edge wear, and the bottom of the action toned to gray patina, along with light scratches and some fine pinprick pitting at some of the high edges. All of the markings are clear and the gun is properly stamped with Winchester proofs. The hammer and lever show just a faint hint of case-hardened colors in some of the protected areas having mostly toned to a light gray patina. The checkered capped pistolgrip walnut buttstock and forend remain in very good condition showing a light coat of older added finish, light scratches, dings and the checkering showing wear. The black hard rubber pistolgrip cap and widow's peak buttplate are completely intact showing some minor discoloration and a few minor dings. The rifle is sighted with typical sporting rear sight, Beach combination front, Lyman tang peep sight, the screws of which show some light slot damage, and the action seems to function well mechanically. This is an attractive rifle that has seen some honest use but is still a fantastically-appointed special order. (138976-67) {C&R} (3000/5000) Sold For 4600.00
