1464. Special Order Remington Model 81 Semi-Auto Rifle

serial #56826, 300 Savage, 22'' barrel with a bright near excellent bore. This September 1950-made rifle features very nicely-checkered stocks, no doubt factory quality but is otherwise a standard A-grade rifle. Standard (A-grade) rifles could be special-ordered from the factory with checkering but are still distinct from the next higher grade ''81-B Special''. This attractive rifle retains about 95% original blue with some light high edge wear, a few small dings and some light freckling mostly along the frame. The bolt is mostly bright showing some minor gray freckling. The pistolgrip walnut stock and forend show a bit of older-added finish and remain in near excellent condition showing a few small dings scattered about, minor handling marks and mostly crisp checkering with a few areas of lightly chipped points. The rifle is equipped with period sling swivels, standard factory sights and a Lyman peep sight missing its insert. This sporting rifle has seen very little use and is really a fine example overall.
