1465. Scarce Remington Model 1891 Target Rolling Block Pistol

serial #495, 22 S/L, 10'' part round part octagon barrel with a fair bore showing moderate oxidation and some good rifling throughout. This target pistol is built on an over-run military frame showing ''P / FCW'' inspection stamps on the right side frame. The metal surfaces are mostly a mix of gunmetal and light brown patina with scattered light pitting throughout and the breechblock still retains some hints of original blue on the sides. The martial markings on the frame are clearly visible but the address and patent markings on the left side are quite soft. The smooth walnut grip and forend remain in fair-good condition as lightly cleaned showing some small chips and dings throughout along with a large ''E'' carved into the base of the grip. The forward grip screw appears to be a replacement. The barrel, frame, forend and grip are all matching by assembly number ''17'' and the hammer functions well. The semi-buckhorn rear sight is intact and the front is an older replacement blade. Still a good example of these hard-to-find rolling block pistols. (139009-11) {ANTIQUE} (700/900) Sold For 517.50
