1469. German Standard Modell Bolt Action Rifle by Mauser Oberndorf

Click on images for enlarged versions.

serial #87681, 8mm Mauser, 24'' barrel with a very good bore that shows scattered frosting and some light pitting but strong rifling. The metal surfaces of this 1934-dated rifle retain 85% original blue finish the loss mostly due to scattered flaking to brown, some freckling on floorplate, oxidation staining on extractor and buttplate. The walnut stock rates very good with an added oil finish, scattered dings and handling marks. This rifle was converted from Standard Modell configuration into K98k configuration, most certainly while in the service of the Reich. The bolt stop and triggerguard are matching, the bolt handle was renumbered to match and the other parts appear unnumbered or mismatched. A solid example of a prewar German Mauser rifle for the military collector. (208998-13) {C&R} (700/900) Sold For 977.50
