serial #192447, 30-06, 24'' 9-09 dated Springfield barrel with a very good plus bore that shows some light pitting and frosting but strong rifling. The barrel is a dull brown patina with scattered traces of blue finish, while the bands are a dull gray patina with scattered silvering. The receiver retains much of an arsenal gray parkerized finish with a few minor dings. The bottom metal is toning to a brown patina with generous traces of arsenal blue finish and some pinprick pitting. The two-bolt walnut stock rates very good as-refinished with an added varnish, a partially faded circled ''P'' firing proof, a few dings, handling marks, the bottom metal and buttplate are both proud of wood. The handguard, stock and rear sight are later replacements and the bolt is marked with a ''D 4'' on the lug and a punchmark on the underside of handle. As with all low numbered 1903 rifles this arm is sold as a collectible rifle for the student of military arms and no thought should be given to the loading or firing of this arm. A solid pre-World War One 1903 Springfield for the military collector. (208809-75) {C&R} (700/900) Sold For 747.50
