1712. Winchester Model 1885 Low Wall Rifle

serial #95717, 25-20 SS, 26'' No. 1 weight round barrel with a bright very good plus bore showing scattered fine frosting with strong rifling. The barrel retains 92-95% original blue, the loss due to even thinning with light muzzle wear, sparse tiny nicks and scratches and light impact marks where the front sight was removed. The frame retains about 75% original blue toning to brown with typical thin striations and light wear along the edges. The hammer, breechblock and lever retain 90% bright case-hardened colors lightly fading to a silvery gray along the left side of the hammer and edges of the lever. The plain walnut straight grip buttstock and schnabel forend with ebony insert tip rate near excellent displaying just a few light handling marks and retaining nearly all of their original varnish. The stock is fitted with a crescent steel buttplate which retains about 40% of its case-hardened colors with the balance toned to a smoky patina. As previously mentioned the front sight has been removed and the rear sight replaced with a slot blank. The barrel has been drilled and tapped and two target blocks are installed.
