175. Very Nice Oscar Young Engraved Smith and Wesson Model 1905 Third Change Revolver

serial #149249, 38 Special, 4'' barrel with a bright about excellent bore which shows some very light surface oxidation in the grooves. The arm shows lovely open flowing scroll with light background punch-dot accenting from engraver Oscar Young. The coverage is in about 70% and the arm retains perhaps 90-92% original gold wash over base silver plating, showing some muzzle wear, sparse light flaking with light high edge and contact point wear and flaked areas at the rear of each cylinder flute where the gun naturally rests when lain on its side. There are additionally some light spots of oxidation scattered about the surface of the revolver. The color case-hardening remains vibrant on the hammer, toning on the trigger, with some light oxidation staining and very light pitting on its lower portion. The arm wears factory mother-of-pearl grips with recessed S&W medallions, the grips rating excellent. The gun seems to function well mechanically and on April 29, 1910 shipped to Norvell-Shapleigh Hardware Co., St. Louis, MO. A very attractive Oscar Young-engraved Model 1905 revolver.
