206. Savage Model 99-PE Presentation Grade Lever Action Rifle

serial #1145263, 284 Win, 22'' barrel with an excellent bore. These lovely factory engraved presentation grade rifles were offered for a limited period of time from 1965 ? 1970. The blued barrel has 99% original finish that is mixing with a few specks of very light surface oxidation. The coin finished ''99M'' marked receiver and lever rate very good to near excellent and feature factory foliate and banknote engraving with some geometric designs and borders in near full coverage. The receiver also features game scenes on either side, a walking elk on the left and a mountain lion on the right. The bolt is machine turned and the trigger and top tang safety retain all of their original gold plating, the cocking indicator has some mild tarnish. There are a few small abrasions noted on the receiver and an area of minor pitting on the left side that is isolated to where the receiver and upper tang meet the wood. A few of the screws have some light slot damage and the filler screws along the top of the receiver are not present. The rifle features presentation grade highly figured walnut stocks with hand checkering and show lots of rich grain. The rounded forend has a few small dings and rates excellent. The Monte Carlo buttstock with capped pistolgrip and original aluminum buttplate rates near excellent has some small checks and light handling marks, and has light to minor flaking to the factory lacquer finish. The flaking is most prominent along the edges where the wood comes into contact with metal and could possibly be easily rectified by a good woodman. The original blade front sight and folding leaf rear sights are intact.
