.60 cal rifled bore by .58 cal smoothbore, 26 1/2'' octagon barrels with very good, lightly oxidized bores. The barrels are a pleasing deep plum-gray patina with toning to pewter on the high edges and contact points with a few very sparsely scattered spots of very light oxidation staining and a few very light handling marks from the years. They feature a single German silver blade front sight and simple v-notch rear mounted in the rib. The barrels are maker-marked in silver on each top flat ''Anschutz'' and ''in Suhl'', with light open foliate silver inlay to their rear. The stepped lockplates each have a pronounced teat at their rear with very light engraving, each maker marked in turn ''Anschutz'' and ''Suhl''. They are a silvery case-hardened patina with some very sparse oxidation staining. The gooseneck cocks are very graceful and feature light curls atop the top jaw guide with faceted bridled frizzens, lightly border engraved. There is a walnut under rib to-which a German silver ramrod thimble is attached as well as a steel ramrod thimble which has a sling swivel mount on its underside, culminating in a lightly chiseled and engraved German silver tailpipe. There is a very wide bow triggerguard with faceted rear spur, showing a pierced and engraved chiseled front extension and the slightly less-ornate rear extension, the bow of the guard neatly geometric and floral engraved. The square-bottom German silver buttplate has a pierced, chiseled and engraved front extension which is very nice with a matching toeplate. The European walnut stock rates very fine with a bit of added finish but also with the minor dings and handling marks that come from the years showing a very coarsely checkered wrist. There are numerous island carvings around all the primary furniture with a nice carving to the rear of the tang and a sliding wooden patchbox with lightly carved head as well. The squarish left side cheekpiece has a thin wire German silver inlay which is lightly engraved with a foliate decoration carved-in-relief ahead of the cheekpiece and a running boar in relief to the rear of the cheekpiece. The rear sling swivel is present, the front is not, the locks well-timed and mechanically functional, the right trigger being a single-set. Overall this is a very lovely flintlock ''buck and ball'' combination gun from this very respected German maker. (38937-243) {ANTIQUE} [Cletus Klein Collection] (5000/7000) Sold For 0.00
