serial #23854, 45-75, 22'' round barrel with an about very good bore. This carbine was initially sold to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and was later, in 1916, transferred the Alberta Provincial Police. The carbine has its original metric military style rear sight and is stamped in the toeline of the stock ''APP 88'' just to the rear of the lower tang. These carbines saw hard use with the NWMP and rarely show any finish. The barrel this carbine retains an even brown patina overall with some scattered light impact marks, some oxidation staining and other normal marks one would expect to see on a police-used arm. The action is much the same but shows generous traces of original blue finish in protected areas. The walnut buttstock and full length forend rate very good with some added finish and with light handling marks and bruises. The buttstock shows very nice figure at the heel and bears no visible ''NWMP'' marking, however it does have the previously described Alberta Provincial Police marking. Replacement stocks were shipped with these orders of carbines and it appears that this may be one of those stocks as the surface is good enough that it should show at least a remnant of the NWMP marking. The APP mark compares nicely with other APP marked guns and is clearly an original mark. The gun comes with a factory letter which reads as follows: Carbine, Large Shank, Good quality stock, Spanish metric sights, Received and shipped on May 11, 1882 on order #32701. A fine example of these repurposed Northwest Mounted and Alberta Provincial Police carbines. (18860-4) {ANTIQUE} (6000/8000) Sold For 0.00
