458. Fine Winchester Model 1894 Saddle Ring Carbine with N and W Railway Markings

serial #937621, 30 W.C.F., 20'' barrel with a bright excellent bore. This is a spectacular little carbine. the barrel and magazine retain 99% original blue. The only loss being some very light thinning on the front barrel band. The action retains about 98% original blue, the loss due to very light saddle ring wear and some minute pinprick impact marks along the rear right side of the receiver, most of which not affecting the finish; the buttplate retains 95-97% original blue with light patches of brown at the heel and center. The plain walnut carbine style buttstock and forend rate excellent with a couple shallow dents and blemishes. The top of the stock is nicely marked ''N. & W. Rwy. Co.''. The carbine is sighted with a proper blade front sight and ladder rear sight. The Norfolk & Western Rail way was famous for manufacturing its own steam locomotives and in 1960 became the last major class 1 railroad to end steam. During the Civil War the N&W was the biggest railroad in the south and moved most of the products with their trains helping the South the best they could.
