serial #301462, 32 Winchester Special, 26'' octagon barrel with button magazine and a good bore showing darkness and minor oxidation in the grooves but strong rifling. The special order feature of this rifle is just the button magazine but also noteworthy is Winchester's special rear sight for the smokeless 32 WS cartridge. The barrel retains about 85-90% original blue showing high edge wear, small spots toning to gray-brown patina, scattered freckling and some tool marks around the rear sight dovetail. The action retains perhaps 40-45% original bright blue mostly present along the sides and more protected areas with the balance toned to gray-brown patina showing some very fine pinprick pitting and small scratches scattered about. The lever shows a few faint hints of case-hardened colors and has mostly toned to a dark gray-brown patina while the loading gate retains some vibrant fire blue. Some of the screw heads show some light slot damage, the rifle is marked with Winchester proofs and all of the markings are still clear. The plain walnut stocks remain in very good condition showing mostly worn finish but nice metal-to-wood fit, scattered small dings, scratches, just a couple tiny hairline cracks along the edges of the buttstock and minor handling marks. The rifle is sighted with the aforementioned special rear sight, small German silver blade front with set screw and the action seems to function well mechanically. An honest and attractive special order 32 WS rifle. (138976-70) {C&R} (1500/2500) Sold For 1035.00
