serial #231120, 32-40, 26'' octagon barrel with full magazine and a bright very good plus bore showing a couple minor pits and strong rifling throughout. The barrel and magazine tube retain about 92% original blue showing a spot of loss on the left side near the rear sight, light high edge wear, scattered light freckling and areas toning to brown patina under bright light. The nosecap retains about 80% original blue while the action retains perhaps 70% original bright blue with high edge wear, areas toning to brown patina and light oxidation staining. The hammer and lever retain some faint smoky remnants of case-hardened colors mostly toned to silvery-gray patina while the loading gate shows strong fire blue. The plain walnut stocks remain in very good condition showing some flaking remnants of original finish along the buttstock, a thin 3'' drying crack on left side butt, thin 2 1/4'' drying crack at the buttplate and some further small dings and handling marks. The rifle is sighted with flattop sporting rear sight, small brass blade front with set screw and the action seems to function well mechanically. This is a nice rifle, quite clean overall.
