serial #174670, 30 Mauser, 5 1/2'' barrel with a bright very good plus bore showing just a little frosting. The metal surfaces of this pre-war commercial pistol retain about 85% original blue toning to gray-brown patina under bright light with scattered light scratches, small spots of minor oxidation staining and small dings. The hammer and bolt are toning to a light gray patina while the small parts retain some vibrant fire blue with overall flaking to gray-brown patina. All of the markings are quite crisp and clear and the left side breech and bolt are stamped with ''(Crown) / (Crown) / U'' commercial proofs. The grooved walnut grips are stamp-numbered to the gun and remain in very good plus condition showing a little added finish and a couple lightly chipped grooves. The lanyard ring is missing but all of the serialized parts are matching and the action seems to function well mechanically. Included is an original wooden combination shoulder stock and holster numbered ''627'' at the tang. The hardware has mostly worn to gray-brown patina and the body remains in good overall condition showing two 4 1/2'' thin repaired cracks at either side of the heel, overall dings and handling marks. There is a small piece of a leather keeper still present around the loop and the stock fits the pistol rather well. A nice pistol for the military collector, this example with a particularly nice bore. (139010-136) {C&R} [Dr. Jess P. Lewis Collection] (1500/2000) Sold For 2070.00
