.32 cal., 42'' octagon barrel with a very good bore with some scattered sparse light oxidation still showing good strong rifling. The barrel and lock are a very pleasing brown patina with scattered fine oxidation staining. The barrel is unsigned and features a thick brass blade front sight and a flat-top v-notch rear sight. There is a brass nosecap, octagonal ramrod thimbles and tailpipe and a triggerguard with facetted bow and a single rearward curving spur. The wide buttplate features a facetted tang and a nice toeplate with engraved scroll and a horsehead patchbox with single line scroll engraving. The curly maple stock rates excellent with simple single line incise carving along the bottom edges of the buttstock ending in a loose curl at the wrist. The cheekpiece is square-bottom with a German silver moon on the cheekpiece. There is a small heart-shaped escutcheon on the side of the wrist with a larger heart-shaped thumbplate atop the wrist. There are three eight-pointed silver star barrel pin escutcheons on either side of the forearm and the sideplate is simple borderline engraved brass. The lock remains strong and the double set triggers are mechanically functional. Included is a brass ball starter and a proper wooden ramrod is in place. A beautiful flintlock rifle destined for either the mantel or the November woods. (58863-48) {ANTIQUE} (1000/1500) Sold For 747.50
