689. Spencer Civil War Carbine

Click on images for enlarged versions.

serial #36062, 56 Spencer, 22'' six-groove barrel with a pitted bore showing evident rifling. The metal surfaces of this carbine are mostly a mottled gray patina showing scattered light pitting. The Spencer address and patent markings over the chamber are somewhat soft but still mostly legible. The replacement plain walnut stocks remain in very good plus condition showing some shallow chips around the edge of the buttplate, light scratches and the metal-to-wood fit showing small gaps. The stocks are likely arsenal replacements as there is still a strong ''E.M.W.'' sub-inspector stamp at the rear of the comb. The original sights, magazine tube and saddle ring are intact, the barrel is matching the frame, the hammer functions crisply and the action seems to function well mechanically. A very good Spencer Civil War carbine. (139027-7) {ANTIQUE} (1000/1500) Sold For 1840.00
