45-70, 18 1/4'' round barrel with half magazine and a near excellent bright bore. This is a military style carbine with sling bar and ring mounted to left side of the stock which was very likely submitted to the government for testing. The gun features a sturdy hooded front sight, a nickel plated half magazine and this short 18 1/2'' barrel, shorter than any known Remington Keene. The condition of the gun is excellent with the barrel and frame retaining 90% plus strong original blue finish. The magazine retains 95% original nickel and the hammer shows strong original color case-hardened finish with some scattered light surface oxidation. The cartridge lifter bears a mellow gray brown patina as does the bolt. The walnut stock rates excellent with nearly all of its original oil finish remaining and with a crack at the top tang which is cosmetic only and could be easily fixed by a competent wood man. According to a John Gangel catalog description from 10 years ago, this carbine has been the subject of research by RCA members and was solicited for donation by several firearms museums. A likely one-of-a-kind high condition Remington Keene saddle ring carbine. (17597-14) {ANTIQUE} (4000/6000) Sold For 0.00
