40-60 cal, 24'' part octagon part round barrel with a bright about excellent bore which shows a sparsely scattered very light pit here or there. The barrel and half-length magazine tube retaining about 95% dark gray-original blue, mixing with a flaked plum brown, showing some sparsely scattered light oxidation and a few spots of very light pitting. The nosecap is primarily a flaked brown and dark gray while the receiver has toned to a dark gray fading original blue with areas flaked to plum and pewter. The bolt body remains mostly bright with some hardened oil staining and light oxidation spots while the knob has toned to a dark tarnished pewter gray. The bottom metal is an even mix of dark gray original blue and plum brown, the carrier a silvery case-hardened patina. The checkered round knob pistolgrip sporting stock rates very good plus with much original varnish, showing the minor dings and handling marks one would expect from the years but with good coarse factory checkering. The stock flats show remnants of cracks which appear to have been successfully repaired quite some time ago and the steel trapdoor buttplate shows remnants of a silvery case-hardened patina mingling with some minor oxidation. The gun seems to function well mechanically and is sighted with a brass front blade and ladder style sporting rear sight. A very nice and rare example overall of the Remington Keene deluxe sporting rifle. (37597-11) {ANTIQUE} (2500/3500) Sold For 2875.00
