serial #517959, 32-40, 25 5/8'' slightly shortened barrel with three-quarter magazine and a good bore showing some moderate oxidation but strong rifling throughout. The front sight dovetail now measures about 5/8'' from the muzzle, the barrel shortened by 3/8'' likely to address some muzzle damage done during the period of use. This rifle has seen honest use but nevertheless is equipped with a number of special order features including semi-deluxe stocks with simple I-style checkering and capped pistolgrip, takedown feature, part round part octagon barrel and three-quarter magazine. The barrel and magazine retain about 65-70% original blue toning to gray patina throughout with areas of light pitting along the length of the barrel and scattered freckling. The action retains perhaps 40% original blue mostly present along the sides of the frame and on the tangs with the balance toned to gray patina and showing scattered light pitting and scratches throughout. The lever is mostly a silvery gray patina and the top of the action and barrel are stamped with Winchester proofs. The checkered capped pistolgrip walnut buttstock and forend remain in about very good condition with the checkering mostly worn to flattop, lightly flaking and worn finish throughout, a few shallow chips, scattered dings and handling marks. Metal-to-wood fit is excellent and the black hard rubber pistolgrip cap is completely intact rating very good plus. The rifle is sighted with sporting rear sight, small German silver blade front with set screw and a period Marble's tang peep sight attached via more modern replacement screws. The action seems to function well mechanically and while the gun is well-used it is still a fine example in a very desirable configuration. (138976-64) {C&R} (2500/4000) Sold For 2415.00
